I feel like this class was fun, well at the end at least. I enjoyed the professor on certain days just as I'm sure she felt the same way. I met some new people and I've come to meet new friends and so and so. I think it kind of was stressful trying to learn a full semesters worth of work in five weeks. Thats a lot of information to process in ones mind all at once. I feel like this experience gave me a starter mind set of college and only gave me a sample of whats to come in the years later. This class has showed me ways to write my papers in a more proper way and taught me how to proof read over other papers including my paper itself. I really think that i'm going to like college a lot but all I need to do is keep my head in the books like the professor is trying to make me do already. I enjoyed the class a lot and the teacher also. I feel like to a certain extent, that she is just like us, just with more authority. This time that was spent this summer in college have prepped me for the fall and I am ready.

Library Experience

When I walked in the library this morning, I was thinking that we had an easy assignment to turn in or work on, but all we had to do was search for resources that would help us with our argumentative essays that are due Wednesday. Looking for the books was the hardest part of this experience. We had to find the right books that suited our topic and was made for the information that we needed to put down in our paper. Its like all the books that we needed were right there in our face but we just didn't know which one was the one that we needed to check out for information. I have never had that much trouble looking for a book a day in my life. I'm use to just looking based on authors last name or the books title or something around that area. I never actually had to go and look for a code then travel down at least 3 rows of bookshelves just to find out that the book that we needed was already taken or just misplaced and put in the wrong spot which makes it harder for us to find the book. Overall, this library experience wasn't all that I expected.

Argumentative Essays (Part 2)

today we talked about how to write our essays and make it strong. Some helpful information was given today that I think is gonna lead me down the right track to make a good essay that's going to be informal. Things that I have trouble with is keeping my essay on the same topic throughout the whole paper. I can keep in on the same subject but I just can't keep it flowing. We were told about the issues of Definition meaning to give us the exact prompt that you are going to follow by. That's something that I needed to know because sometimes I can't give exactly what the prompt is, but more of a sample. Then we talked about the issues of Causation and Evaluation. The issues of Evaluation is when you argue whether something is good or bad; right or wrong; better or worse. I can follow that one because I can argue good depending of if its good or bad. Other people may have an opinion and say opposite but that's how I feel. Then the main thing that we was told was "Support your argument with evidence."

Argumentative Essays

When you writing an argumentative essay, make sure you remember to not worry about trying to win the argument, more about trying to get your point across to the audience and whoever is hearing or reading your work. For example, I'm doing my essay on War and the things that war can do to the people around you. When I say war, I'm not basically directing it to war in the fields such as military wise or group wise, I'm saying war in general. People can be in war with themselves mentally dealing with issues that the people around that one individual can't see is going on with them and that could be a problem in the long run. War is basically a conflict, not physically, not mentally, just a conflict. It can be between two groups or simply one person depending on whats going on in their lives that we, the people around them, cannot see. I've been in war with myself and others but being at war with ones self is probably the worse, because even if you win, you lose if you think about it because someone has to lose in this situation

Burned Out Minds

In our society today, technology is taking over with everything that we have. Its crazy because children are growing up with the wrong impressions, soaking up the wrong information to grow up with. They watch television and look at the wrong things which makes younger children without the proper mind frame, soak in all of the wrong things. I think that children can't control the way that they act depending on the things that they saw on television unless there was a parent involved in making sure it was okay... and still even with that, it still could be harmful. I just think that children should stay in there rating because media does this for a reason. I've been in situations where I played a 7 year old in Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 ONLINE! That game is nothing but killing and blood and everything a 7 year old shouldn't be exposed to. The crazy thing was that he was talking as much shit as I was. Kids need to stay in the PG rating that are younger than thirteen. Never go above your rating because it may damage your mind in the wrong way.

1965 A Year to Remember

this is the final chapter to end this amazing book. I liked the way that it ended to be honest. i don't think that this book could've ended any better. Well the chapter starts off good. Turns out that Shadrack is alone and lonely since Sula died. the reason that he feels alone is because Sula was basically the only one that came to see him at his house. she enjoyed being his company even when it wasn't for sex. Sula was basically the only friend that Shadrack had and since  she is gone, there is no one left for him to be with. Nel ended up going to talk to Eva because she wanted to see how she was. While she was at her visit with Eva, she realized a whole bunch of things that made her mad at herself due to the fact that she took the situation to a whole other level and didn't really take the time listen to what Sula had to say to her. Sula told Nel that Eva was mean and crazy but Nel thought Sula was lying just out of spite and wanted to get rid of her and that's why she put her in the nursing home but that really wasn't the case. She found out that she went her life thinking that she was living a good life, but in reality, she was living a bad one. She was glad when Teapot drowned and she was the first to joke about it which was mean because we all thought that she was the good and innocent one.

1941 The Celebrations

This chapter was following right after Sula died. You know how the people of the town felt after that. Its like all of the town people wanted her gone whether she died or just left but either way it didn't matter to them. It was funny how everyone went to the funeral to make sure she was actually dead and in the ground buried. After she died, it was black people that was hired to do construction for the tunnel under the river. Its like it was a very good thing for everyone in the economy that she died. Turns out that there is a nursing home that is to be built for black people and white people together. That meant that Eva was now going to be in a suitable nursing home. Its like a whole bunch of very good things happened to the economy soon as Sula died. That's kinda funny and sad at the same damn time. Its mean how some people can go thinking that just because someone died that it is a very good thing like its contributes to they life in a positive way. But then a frost comes by and destroys a whole bunch of crops and stuff. So its hard to tell whether its a good thing she died.

1940 The Devil Dies

This chapter was sad in a way. Well it starts off with Sula at her Grandmother house and then she ends up in the hospital. Its crazy how no matter what she did to the Nel, the one person that was always there for her no matter what, always managed to still be there for her even after Sula had sex with her husband and caused them to break apart. Nel visited Sula as she laid in pain in that hospital in that hospital bed. She told Nel to go get some medicine and she did it for her... That is a good friend right there. I wish I had someone like Nel. But its crazy because even though that Nel did go to see her in her time of need, Sula was still talking like she wasn't sorry for what she did. She told Nel that she had sex with Jude and didn't have any feelings for him so Nel just sat there in disgust or shock. But in the end of the chapter, Sula died. That was sad. She said that it didn't hurt and that she can wait to tell Nel, even though she was dead. Which was crazy. But good chapter.

1939 The Player gets Coached

This chapter is where all of Sula's insecurities takes place! I love this chapter out of all of them... well I guess I can say that. Its been a lot of good chapters, but this one stood out to me the most. Its funny in many ways. To start it off, Sula getting blamed for Little Teapot falling down the steps, when in reality he tripped, is funny. Then not only that, but the mother (Betty) comes home and sees him on the ground with Sula standing and looking over and instantly accuses Sula for the incident that took place. In another scene, the people of the town accuses Sula of being a devil because she had gotten Shadrack to tip is hat to her in sign of welcome (he didn't really have a hat). The people only thought that because Shadrack was like the meanest person in the entire economy and he had never been nice to anyone. People thought he was crazy and psycho. But some good things came from Sula coming back to town; wives started to cherish there husbands more than they use to because of Sula's background... hoe. Sula becomes attached to the ladies-man of the town. They have sex and such and such... not surprising to me, but in the end, he leaves her and she feels some type of way about it. 

1937 Its all Sula's Fault

This chapter had me confused for a couple of pages. Its like i didn't understand everything that was being said on the first go around. Sula gets accused for things and one of those things is being accused of evil ways. Sula goes back up to the Bottom and then brings the Plague of robins. She says that Eva's decision to cut off her own leg in order to collect insurance does not give her the right to control other people's lives. Eva tries to say that Sula was a bad daughter, Sula accuses her of murdering Plum.What was wrong to me was that Eva then tells Sula that she watched Hannah burn to death. Sula told Eva that she was gonna kill her the same way that she killed plum Eva keeps her door locked at night.  Sula becomes Eva's bodyguard and commits her to a nursing home, surprising everyone in the entire community. It was funny how they decided that Sula is truly evil, though Sula tells Nel that she put Eva in a home because she was afraid of her. Its like this chapter is nothing but insulting each other and putting each other down. I really didn't like this one.

1927 Hard out Here for a Pimp

This chapter was full of excitement and things that you would've never seen coming. To start it off, I never saw Sula going to college. That put me in a stage of shock and awe. Then not only that, but Sula and Nel friendship ended up becoming non-existing or so it was on the verge. This is a chapter where this man comes in to the story named Jude Green. This is a man that has pride in what he does. He is the type of man that wants to be viewed as a man and not someone that has a womans job such as being a waiter because that is exactly what his current job is so far. He feels discouraged because he doesn't have someone to love and care for him and the things that he does and is interested in. Thats when he gets the idea to marry. So he ends up marrying Nel to satisfy his needs. But when he marries Nel, he doesn't know that Nel only acted herself around Sula so she isn't gonna be herself around him but instead take on the natural everyday married woman life of taking care of him and his needs.

1923 Death at a Funeral

I promise in this chapter, I was lost in thought. Its like in this one chapter, Sula's true colors were shown. But to start it off, the whole chapter was interesting to me. It had me wanting to continue on reading and wishing the chapter didn't end the way that it did. I didn't really jump in to the chapter until it brought up the dream about the red wedding dress. That's when all of the excitement came into play.

1922 Slippery When Wet

To be honest, this chapter is making me think that certain people aren't who they are out to be. Sula ends up murdering a boy in my eyes. Even though the book claims that she was playfully swinging Chicken Little by the arms and he slips from her grip and into river, she still had a chance to jump in and save him from drowning. But on another note, she defends Nel when she was getting bullied by them other people. Its like she shows feelings for certain people at certain times. Like how you gonna defend someone by pulling out a knife that has nothing to do with you, but not jump in a river and at lease make an attempt to save a boy who was clearly drowning because of an incident you were involved in. Then even though she's young, she likes the attention of the grown men when they were trying to hit up on them knowing that they were little girls. Its like this whole chapter is all over the place.

1921 The Pimp and the Pimp Hand

Well this is quite a strange and unusual and humorous in way you feel me? It was funny how that man abandoned her then came back later in time. But its also crazy how she leaves her children and returns

1920 Racism is Bitch

This chapter is more along the lines of showing racism in the story. The white people tricked the blacks into moving up in a area that was less than they told them. A lot of crazy things happened that interested me. Like for one, the reason why the whites called the land they gave to the Blacks "The Bottom of Heaven". They gave it that name because of the fact that it was high up like it was close to heaven, but the land wasn't as good as they said it was. I say that's good use of words right there. The black people were smarter though, they knew that since they couldn't plant crops then they would build, and build they did. So I guess you could call Blacks back in the day, smart but on the slow side. 1920 really showed how blacks were treated back then and it kind of makes me mad to think about the fact that the white people would actually try to get over on the black people by promising them land and lying to them, saying that it was land that was good for growing crops on which it really wasn't. I think that there is a lot more to the story that I will find interesting so i'm going to keep reading to find out more.

1919 Dude was going through Hell

Well starting off from the beginning, World War II was the start of pure hell for Shadrack. 1919 is probably the best chapter that I read so far. Only because its filled with detailed images and it kept me wanting to read on and on to find out what was going to happen next. It had me to the tip of my toes because of the gruesome images it portrayed in my mind at the moment. Describing how the man in war had gotten his head blown off was good but also describing how the brain was hanging down his back while he ran, still filled with energy, was the "BANG" that it needed for me. Then comes to the part that he was in the hospital and he was imagining his hand growing was a funny part to me. He got scared to look at them because he thought something was wrong with him, which it was. He ended up getting violent because he didn't want to see his hands by striking the nurse in the face knocking her over a stand. I never knew that someone would be happy being in a straightjacket.This chapter is filled with a lot of exciting things and also confusing if you really don't pay attention.
